Next, we will keep going to Soraypampa, which is the starting point for the path leading to Humantay Lagoon. The hike to Humantay Lake takes about 1.5 hours to complete.
Humantay Lake is a well-known tourist site in Cusco, boasting its mesmerizing blue waters, which make for a perfect photo opportunity. Located between the mountains of Salkantay and Humantay, these snowy peaks are regarded as gods by the Andean people.
Once we arrive at Humantay Lagoon, you will have the opportunity to take in the breathtaking natural views. Additionally, there are numerous altar stones, also known as apachetas, that can be seen close to the lagoon’s shoreline.
Afterwards, we will make our way back to Soraypampa, and then to Mollepata, where we will stop for lunch. Then, a private vehicle will transport us back to Cusco, where we will be arriving around 6:30 pm. Upon arrival in Cusco, you will then be taken back to your hotel.
I hiked to Humantay Lake, and the views were absolutely stunning! The turquoise water against the snow-capped mountains is something you have to see in person. The hike was a bit challenging, but totally worth it for the peaceful, breathtaking scenery at the top. Definitely a must-do if you’re in Cusco!
